Maritime Skills Centre

The State has established a Maritime Skills Centre at Techport Australia to deliver trade and technical skills required for the AWD project. 

The Maritime Skills Centre will become a centre of excellence in skill development in shipbuilding and related industries.  It will provide training programs covering both white and blue collar skills throughout the life the AWD build and potentially the ongoing repair, maintenance and upgrade lifecycle. 

The facility was completed on budget and on schedule and handed over to ASC in May 2008, ready to commence training from the facility on a priority basis.   

Where capacity permits, the Maritime Skills Centre is available for commercial training activities.
