Commercial Precinct
Techport Australia’s Commercial and Education Precinct houses the Maritime Skills Centre, AWD Systems Centre and Raytheon Australia’s South Australian Engineering Centre.
The Maritime Skills Centre provides technical and trade training for the AWD project and when capacity permits is also available for third party commercial training activities.
The high-tech AWD Systems Centre is under construction at Techport Australia, scheduled for completion in mid-2010. The AWD Systems Centre is the national project headquarters housing Defence and industry participants working together to bring the Air Warfare Destroyer design to life.
Construction of Raytheon Australia’s state headquarters is also well advanced. The company’s South Australian Engineering Centre will support the test and integration of equipment and sensors into the combat system for the Hobart class AWDs, and the replacement combat systems integration on the Collins class submarines.
The precinct is linked via SABRENet, the state’s high speed optical fibre broadband network, to all major education and R&D facilities across Adelaide. This includes the University of Adelaide, Flinders University, University of South Australia and TAFE campuses, plus Technology Park Adelaide, Edinburgh Parks and Defence Science and Technology Organisation.
Space is available in the precinct for further purpose designed and built office and office/warehouse accommodation.
