First elected to the South Australian Parliament in 1993, Kevin Foley was appointed to the Ministry in 2002, when the new Rann Labor government took office. He is the Member for Port Adelaide. In addition to serving as Treasurer, he holds the portfolios of Federal/State Relations and Industry and Trade. In opposition he held shadow portfolios and served on the parliament’s Economic and Finance and Industries Development Committees. Before taking his seat in the South Australian Legislative Assembly, Kevin Foley was Chief of Staff to Premier Lynn Arnold. Earlier, he held jobs in both the public service and corporate sector, with a 10-year career in sales and marketing at Australian National Industries, a major steel distribution company. He has also worked for the Australian Trade Commission, Cadbury Schweppes and Boral Ltd.
